School Business Management

Accordio now offers a range of bespoke business management services to schools aimed at boosting efficiency, supporting new projects or simply ensuring that day-to-day management complies with often-complex local authority rules.

School business management can be challenging, but also opens up opportunities. New ideas, new processes and new funding streams can all benefit your school, but making the most of those opportunities takes experience and know-how - and that's what Accordio Education Services can provide.

With school budgets increasingly under pressure, finding and making the most of new opportunities and partnerships is vital, and it's not always something that existing staff are skilled at doing.

Support from Accordio Education Services can help your school to achieve its business goals while the headteacher focuses on his or her priority - supporting and inspiring the teaching staff.

Accordio Education Services offers a flexible approach and can either support your existing administration and finance teams in the short or long term or take the place of a full-time business or finance manager - at a considerably lower cost.

The service also includes mentoring and carrying out process and efficiency reviews and is designed to provide effective, high quality support that delivers measurable benefits and helps the school achieve its wider aims and ambitions.

  • adhere to the school’s internal financial controls as detailed in its finance policy (and the controls set out in the local authority’s scheme for financing schools if applicable) for purchasing items
  • determine a contract/project specification, budget projection, the expected outcome(s) and deadline for completion
  • research local contractors and the availability of local authority and/or government framework agreements

Income generation service

Sourcing additional income generation streams is usually designed to allow the school to complete or undertake a project that the main revenue or devolved capital budgets are unable to support. Since many grants are awarded on the basis that they are spent within a pre-determined period, schools looking for income generation support may also wish to  sign up to the project procurement package (see above).

Accordio Education Services will determine a specification for your project and agree the expected outcome.

We will require a copy of the current school development plan (specifically the identified priorities), the latest performance information and any other relevant information specific to your school or the local community (such as the percentages of Pupil Premium pupils, those on free school meals and SEN numbers)  Our team will then:

  • research applicable funding streams and grants
  • complete and submit applications on behalf of the school

Data Protection

For schools that are looking for the easiest possible way to stay within the rules while they focus on the day job, Accordio’s outsourced Data Protection Officer Service is the low-cost, flexible answer.

For a fraction of the cost of appointing your own DPO (even if you could find one - figures show the country has 37,000 fewer than it needs), Accordio will provide comprehensive support for a low annual fee, allowing the staff to focus on giving pupils the high quality education they deserve.

With prices starting at just £500 per year for the outsourced DPO service and just over £1,000 for an extensive data audit, Accordio offers your school an affordable route to peace of mind.
